August 2011 University of Cambridge students, Laura Plant and Tom Pyys-Jones, complete a scoping study for a multi-year project to research the environmental effects of GGF's low-impact logging. The project is designed to establish how ecosystems recover after logging and is expected to provide GGF with guidelines on how improve its operations so as to minimise environmental disturbance.

December 2010 Gareth Hughes, GGF's CEO, was invited to the International Tropical Timber Council's 46th Session in Yokohama in Japan. Gareth presented on GGF's innovative use of Helveta's inventory and timber tracking system for our operations in Peru.

December 2010 GGF receives certification from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Control Union of the Netherlands confirms that GGF has met the strict social and environmental criteria required for Chain of Custody certification by FSC. This ahievement is an important milestone and is the result of dedicated commitment by the company to best international practices.

February 2010 WWF personnel visit GGF’s concessions to assist with FSC certification process and give in-house training to staff.

February 2010 New sawmill machinery delivered and installed. GGF’s bespoke-built sawmill is now fully operative. The specialist machinery was built by Mendes in Brazil and is amongst the most modern in the world for tropical hardwoods.
